Local SEO for a Business With a Physical Location

For a shop, clinic, studio, restaurant or any business tied to a place, "near me" searches and the map pack drive a large share of new customers. Local SEO is a distinct discipline from general SEO, and most of it is unglamorous consistency.

Your Google Business Profile is the foundation

Claim it, verify it, and fill it out completely: correct category, hours, address, phone, service area, photos, and a genuine description. Keep it current — wrong opening hours is one of the most common and most damaging errors. Respond to reviews, all of them, briefly and professionally.

NAP consistency

Your Name, Address and Phone number should be identical everywhere they appear — your site, your profile, directories, social pages. Inconsistent listings ("Street" vs "St.", an old phone number) make it harder for search engines to trust which information is correct.

On your website

  • A real, crawlable address and phone number in the footer and on a contact page — as text, not an image.
  • LocalBusiness structured data with the address, hours and geo-coordinates.
  • A page per location if you have several, each with its own address and details.
  • Content about the areas you serve, written naturally — not a list of town names.

Reviews

Volume, recency and rating all matter, and review text that mentions what you do and where helps. Ask satisfied customers directly and make it easy. Never buy reviews or incentivise only positive ones — platforms detect it and the penalty is severe.

Local links and mentions

Being listed and talked about on local news sites, community pages, chambers of commerce, event sponsors and regional directories is a strong signal. These are also often the places your customers actually look.

In short

Local SEO rewards accuracy and consistency: a complete profile, identical contact details everywhere, LocalBusiness markup, and real reviews. We build the on-site part into every website for a location-based businesstell us where you operate.
